About Unfollowers Tool in one line: it answers "who unfollowed me?" and "who doesn't follow me back?" from the data Instagram already gives you, without asking for your password and without sending your file anywhere.
Why we built it
Most unfollower apps want your Instagram login, and most websites look up usernames through scraped data you can't verify. Instagram's own data download already contains your followers and following lists. It just isn't easy to read. So we made a page that reads it for you, in your browser, and keeps snapshots on your device so you can compare one month with the next.
How it works
- You request your data from Instagram (how to download your Instagram data).
- You drop the ZIP on a checker page. JavaScript running in your browser opens only the followers and following files.
- The lists are compared in memory, and an optional snapshot (usernames only) is saved in your browser's local storage.
- Nothing is uploaded. Your file stays on your device. The privacy policy has the details.
How we test Unfollowers Tool
Every claim on this site comes from a test we can rerun. Last run: November 4, 2026, Chrome 157 on an Apple M4 laptop.
- Privacy. 30 automated checks drive a real Chrome browser through every checker page, record every network request and fail if a single one is made while a file is read. One check switches the network off after the page loads and confirms the checker still works.
- Speed. We time how long it takes from choosing a file to seeing the results, five runs per file, and quote the median: 1,000 followers in 0.05 s, 10,000 followers in 0.07 s, 100,000 followers in 0.23 s. With the CPU slowed 4x to match a mid-range phone, 100,000 followers take 0.88 s.
- Formats. The parser is tested against 4 export layouts: JSON (current layout), JSON (older layout), followers split across several files, HTML. It skips photos, videos and Threads files.
- Test files. We use synthetic exports with the same structure as Instagram's, never real people's data.
If your export doesn't read correctly, tell us what the checker said (not the file itself) and we'll add your layout to the tests.
What we don't do
- We don't log in to Instagram or ask for your password.
- We don't look up other people's accounts.
- We don't unfollow, follow or message anyone for you.
- We don't sell or share data, because we never receive it.
