Who unfollowed me on Instagram: first upload vs second upload

Instagram has no list of people who unfollowed you. Its data download is a list of who follows you on the day you request it. So the checker works like a before-and-after photo: the first file is the "before", and every later file is compared with it.

How to see who unfollowed you on Instagram

There are three ways to check who unfollowed you on Instagram. Only the second one gives you a full list without risking your account.

1. Check one profile by hand

Open the person's profile, tap Following and search for your username. If you are not there, they don't follow you. This is fine for one or two people and useless for a whole list.

2. Compare two Instagram exports (what this tool does)

  1. Request your data from Instagram: Settings, then Meta Account (called Accounts Center on some accounts), then Export your information (some versions say Download your information), then only Followers and following, format JSON. Our guide to downloading your Instagram data shows every tap.
  2. Drop the ZIP on this page. It becomes your snapshot.
  3. A week or a month later, request a new export and drop it here. The accounts that were in your old followers list and are missing from the new one are the people who unfollowed you.

3. Unfollower apps and extensions

Apps that ask for your Instagram password log in as you, which breaks Instagram's terms and can get your account locked or flagged. Sites that check any username buy scraped data from third parties. Both may work for a while; neither is something you control. Exports are slower, but they come from Instagram itself.

Is it safe to check who unfollowed me on Instagram here?

Tip: request a new export on the same day each month. Then "who unfollowed me on Instagram" becomes a two-minute monthly check.

Is there a website to see who unfollowed me on Instagram?

Yes. Unfollowers Tool is a website, not an app: it works in Safari or Chrome on your phone and in any browser on a computer. You drop your Instagram data download on the page and see who unfollowed you, who doesn't follow you back and your newest followers.

What is the best app to see who unfollowed me on Instagram?

The safest choice is one that never asks for your Instagram password. Unfollowers Tool reads Instagram's own data download in your browser, is free and has nothing to install. Apps that log in as you risk action blocks, and sites that check any username charge weekly for scraped data. We compared six of them side by side.

Can I see who unfollowed me on Instagram without giving my password?

Yes. With Unfollowers Tool you download your data from Instagram yourself, so you never type your password anywhere else. The site never asks for your username or password and cannot see your account.

Does Instagram tell you who unfollowed you?

No. Instagram sends no notification and keeps no list of who unfollowed you. The only way to get the names without logging in to an app is to compare two copies of your followers list, which Unfollowers Tool does with your Instagram data downloads.

Why doesn't the first upload show who unfollowed me?

Instagram's export lists who follows you today, not who left. The first upload becomes your baseline. Upload a newer export later and the checker lists every account that is missing from the new list. If you already have an older export, drop both files together and get the answer right away.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Download your data in the Instagram app, then open unfollowerstool.com in Safari or Chrome and choose the ZIP from your Files or Downloads. In our tests, an export with 10,000 followers is read in about 0.15 seconds at phone speed.

Does it work with a private or business account?

Yes. The export comes from your own account, so private, public, creator and business accounts all work the same way.

Is the unfollower list accurate?

It is exact for the two exports you compare. An account can also drop off your list because it was deactivated, renamed or blocked you, so open the profile before you react.

Is it really free?

Yes. Every list and every CSV download on Unfollowers Tool is free, with no sign-up. A browser extension is planned.
